Hello Everybody ! Do you remember
MAYOTTE?
Our tiny island in the Indian Ocean, in
the Canal of Mozambique, between Madagascar and the eastern coast of
Africa.
Last year, MRS GABRIEL, our English
teacher started to work on the Sandwatch Project and this year we have
decided to join you. We are a group of 12 girls, we are between 14 and
16 and our names are Maissara,
Moitsoumou,Zouriane,Anfiati,Hadjira,Rassinia,
Zaianti,Koudoussia,Anillah,Souraiya,Toymina,Echati.
Today was the first time we were meeting
and we were shown what was done last year. We visited the site on
Sandwatch, read the articles and saw the photos. It seems so
interesting and exciting at the same time ! We are sure we are going
to have a great time !We have been studying English for three years
and we like it very much even if we sometimes find the pronunciation
and the understanding quite difficult !We are very pleased to
communicate with other people and to know more about other islands in
the world. We feel very concerned with ENVIRONMENT,POLLUTION,NATURE and
we are aware of the importance of our beaches, lagoon and marine
ecosystem. We would like to involve other schoools and classes in the
project too.
We would like you to discover Mayotte as well and particularly the
beach of KOUNGOU. We went on our first field trip and we were quite
disappointed and discouraged by what we saw today. There’s a lot to
be done to .EDUCATE people not to POLLUTE the beaches and leave their
trash behind them ,but we really feel like doing something and we’ll
try to so during the following year.
We hope you’ll like our photos of Mayotte and we are looking forward
to hearing from you ! We are now part of the SANDWATCH COMMUNITY and
we are very PROUD!
