The Caribbean was the place where Sandwatch started. It was
here in 1998 at a regional meeting in Tobago that students and teachers
came up with the name Sandwatch and the idea to start a project on caring
for their beaches. Since then Sandwatch has expanded to include islands in
the Indian and Pacific Oceans as well as some new places in other parts of
the world.
